A minimalist design timber framed outbuilding, using a sustainable design to incorporate both a comfortable living space and additional storage.
This cedar clad timber frame sits independently from the primary house. With its minimalist exterior, incorporating vertical cedar cladding and clean lines, it sits well against the natural stone constructed cottage in this remote location. This Low energy passive building requires very little heating and has been built to a sustainable budget.
Access to the location was challenging, so the frame had to be constructed on site rather than the more conventional prefabricated panels that are built in factories. The roof has been carefully designed to house sedum blankets at a later date, so that the building settles seamlessly into the green land it has been constructed on. The internal layout of the building has duel usage to make the most of the available space by creating additional accommodation and much needed storage for a car enthusiast.
